The loss% on total transaction is 1%
GIVEN
A shopkeeper sold two mobile phones for 4752 each. On one he gains 10% and on the other he loses 10%.
TO FIND
Gain or loss in the whole transaction.
SOLUTION
We can simply solve the above problem as follows;
Selling price of each mobile phone = Rs 4752
Combined selling price = 2×4752 = 9504
Now,
Profit% on one phone = 10%
selling price of the phone = Rs 4752
[tex]cp = \frac{sp}{1 + \frac{profit}{100} } [/tex]
Therefore,
=
[tex] = \frac{4752}{1 + \frac{10}{100} } [/tex]
[tex] = \frac{4752 \times 100}{110} [/tex]
= Rs 4320
Similarly,
Loss% on one phone = 10%
Selling price of phone = Rs 4752
Cost price =
[tex] \frac{sp}{1 - \frac{loss\%}{100} } [/tex]
[tex] = \frac{4752 \times 100}{90} [/tex]
= Rs 5280
Combined cost price of two phones = 4320 + 5280 = Rs 96,00
Loss = Cp-sp
= 9600-9504
= 96
Loss% = (Loss/cp)×100
= 1%
Hence, The loss% on total transaction is 1%
