The sum of the roots of the polynomial,
a + b = √2
and
the product of the roots of the polynomial,
ab = 1/3.
So, the required polynomial is
= x² - (a + b)x + (ab)
= x² - √2x + 1/3
= (3x² - 3√2x + 1)/3
i.e., (3x² - 3√2x + 1) is the required polynomial.
