Distance
Actual path covered by a body is called distance.
Total Distance covered = 5m + 10m = 15m
Displacement
The shortest distance between two points is called displacement.
Total Displacement = x
According to Pythagoras Theorem, We get
[tex] {5}^{2} + {10}^{2} = {x}^{2} \\ x = \sqrt{125} = 5 \sqrt{5} [/tex]
Hence,
Displacement = x = 5√5m
