Given:-
To Find:-
Solution:-
Firstly we convert the power of Engine into watt
As we know that
1 hp = 746 watt
20 hp = 746 ×20 = 14920watt.
And convert time into sec
1 min = 60 sec
1 hour = 60 × 60 sec
2 hour = 60 ×60 ×2 = 7200 sec.
Now,
⟹ Energy consumed = Power ×Time
Put all the values
⟹ Energy Consumed = 14920 × 7200
⟹ Energy Consumed = 107424000 Joule.
Additional Information !!
✧ The rate of doing work is called power.
In other words
The rate at which energy is transferred by an object is called the power.
✧ SI Unit of Power is Watt (W).
✧ Mathematical term
Power = Energy Consumed/Time
Given ,
Electric power = 20 hp or 14920 watt
Time = 2 hr or 7200 sec
We know that ,
Electric power is defined as the rate at which electric energy is consumed in a circuit
Thus ,
Energy = 14920 × 7200
Energy = 107424000 J
The energy consumed by the engine is 107424 Kilo Joule
Remmember :
1 horse power = 746 watt
