1. According to Vivekananda what kind of education do Indians need?
Ans: He suggested that education should aim at reforming the human mind; it should not be for filling some facts into the brain. Education should be the preparation of life. He once said that Education is not the amount of information that is put into your brain and runs riot there, undigested all your life. We must have life-building, man-making, character-making, assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library. If education were identical with information, the libraries would be the greatest sages in the world and encyclopedias the rishis.
Vivekananda propagated that the essence of Hinduism was best expressed in Adi Shankara's Advaita Vedanta philosophy. And thus, for modern education system Swami Vivekananda wanted to implement maximum emphasis on meditation and concentration in the teaching-learning process.
