Now you might wondering as solid has greater density but still ice floats on water. Ice is actually water at 4 °C. Water consist of 2 Hydrogen and 1 Oxygen molecules and their bonds are much stronger compared to their own bonding in ice. That's why water remains heavier and settled down and ice comes on top and floats.
