I am considering a career in childcare but i currently do not own my own home. I am a tenant with a private landlord (not through an agency)
could i still be a childminder if i live in a rented house?

You will have to inform the landlord that you intend to run a business from the address you will also have to be registered and assessed by the local authaurity good luck
Yes you can but you need the landlords permission. you also need to get in touch family daycare australia and they will be able to give you advice or lead you in the right direction to start the process. some states require you to have qualifications others dont.you really need to ring them. good luck with it
You only have to have suitable premises and suitable references. You will also need to be vetted for any criminal record by the police and must register as a child minder etc.with your local authority. Finally you might need planning permission.
