Hi,
I have been learning Python for a while now and am interested in Computer Science. Regarding mathematics, what can I do in the mean time to develop my math skills further? What exactly should I work on? Any books that one would paticularly recommend?
At present I have been working on my mentak arithmetic, particularly multiplication and division. I would like to target algebra as well, as I haven't had to use this in many years. Aside from these things I haven't had anything else in mind.
Thanks for your time, five stars to best answer.
Regards

For practical purposes Algebra is very useful but Geometry and Trigonometry -- which help you with questions of screen display -- are great. I can't emphasize how useful they can be. Also logic of course. Logic is itself a mathematical discipline and set theory is extremely helpful.
My sister got her Masters degree back in the sixties from Brown University. In computer science? No. In Applied Math. Computer Science is a special instance of Applied Math. That hasn't changed and never will.
I, like you, and interested in computer science. Although I'm more on the hardware side of things, I think the mathematical skills you need would be the same. From what I understand, I have to take Calculus classes(I & II). Calculus builds on Algebra, so get a firm understanding of Algebra, and then try some teach-it-yourself books for Pre-Calculus.
Study Algebra and its subsidiaries. Also, Algorithms are heavily used.
