Embryology is the branch of biology that studies the prenatal development of gametes, fertilization, and development of embryos and fetuses.
Types of embryology -:
Ectoderm: forms the epithelium that covers the body, and gives rise to cells in the nervous system.
Endoderm: forms the gastrointestinal tract and associated structures involved in digestion.
Mesoderm: forms the connective tissues and "soft" tissues such as bone, muscle, and fat.
Answer:
Gametogenesis, in embryology, the process by which gametes, or germ cells, are produced in an organism. The formation of egg cells, or ova, is technically called oogenesis, and the formation of sperm cells, or spermatozoa, is called spermatogenesis.
