what I mean by "orbital" and "subshell" in points:
1. An orbital refers to the region of space around an atomic nucleus where an electron is likely to be found.
2. Orbitals are described by their shape, size, and orientation within the atom.
3. Each orbital can hold a maximum of two electrons with opposite spins.
4. The three main types of orbitals are s, p, and d orbitals, each with a different shape.
5. The s orbital is spherical, while the p orbitals are dumbbell-shaped.
6. Orbitals are labeled using a combination of letters and numbers, such as 1s, 2p, or 3d, which indicate the energy level and type of orbital.
7. A subshell, on the other hand, refers to a group of orbitals within an energy level that have the same shape.
8. For example, the 2p subshell consists of three p orbitals (2px, 2py, 2pz).
9. Subshells are labeled using letters: s, p, d, and f.
