DNA
Deoxyribonucleic Acid
DNA is made up of two strands that form a double helix. These strands are built up of nucleotide subunits. A phosphate, a 5-carbon sugar molecule, and a nitrogenous base make up each nucleotide.
RNA
Ribonucleic Acid
Although RNA only has one strand, it is made up of nucleotides, just like DNA. The strands of RNA are shorter than the strands of DNA. RNA can create a secondary double helix structure, but only on rare occasions.
