Spermiogenesis and spermiation are such subdivisions of spermatogenesis. Spermiogenesis is a process by which spermatids are transformed into mature spermatozoa whilst spermiation is the process where the spermatozoa are released from the Sertoli cells into the cavity of seminiferous tubules.
