As far as I know, it is under NSDL. If you have an account with ICICI Direct, you can check your demat account number and DP ID. If your demat account number is an 8-digit number, then it falls under NSDL. If your demat account number is a 16-digit number, it is under CDSL.
If you are yet to open an account with ICICI Direct, most probably you will get an account falling under NSDL. Possibly, they won't be associated with CDSL. And if at all they are associated, you will have to ask them specifically that you want an account falling under CDSL. Otherwise, by default, it will be NSDL only.

and with ICICI it is usaully an NSDL a/c that they open..
check if the demat account is starting with in then its mostly with NSDL.
