When the body overcomes the force of static friction, the maximum value of static friction is reached which is known as limiting friction. After the limiting friction, the frictional force is not going to increase further. At this stage , the object moves overcoming the frictional force which is at the constant value.

The force of static friction is directly proportional to the normal force acting on the object and is given by the equation \( F_{\text{friction}} = \mu_s \cdot N \), where:
- \( F_{\text{friction}} \) is the force of static friction,
- \( \mu_s \) is the coefficient of static friction (a dimensionless constant),
- \( N \) is the normal force acting on the object.
As long as the applied force doesn't exceed the limiting value, the object remains at rest, and the static friction force exactly balances the applied force. Once the applied force exceeds the limiting friction, the object starts moving, and the friction force transitions to kinetic friction, which is generally lower than the limiting static friction.
