There are many reasons why poverty has grown in urban areas:
1) There is overpopulation which makes it hard to satisfy the needs of all people.
2) There is social inequality which results to social exclusions
3) There is educated unemployment
4) People have migrated from rural areas to cities increasing competition for jobs and hence resulting in increased unemployment.
5) There is huge income inequality and unequal distribution of resources among the the people.
6) Many people do not have required skills and knowledge to earn a proper livelihood in such competitive urban life .
