There are two types of immunity in our body system. One is called adaptive immunity and the other is acute immunity.
The former one, adaptive immunity, is the immunity that we develop over time period , which means- as we grow and encounter new antigens our immune defense system become familiar with them and they create an immune system against it.
The latter one, acute immunity, is in the general sense, the immune defense system our body possesses by birth. It is hereditary. This immune defense system comes from the parents that help a new born or an infant to fight off infectious agents to some extent.
