a)Etherification is the well-known dehydration of an alcohol to form ethers. This is commonly practised with both aliphatic and aromatic alcohols (phenols). In the case of a simple aliphatic alcohol acid catalysis is sufficient to produce the ether.
b)Saponification is a process by which triglycerides are reacted with sodium or potassium hydroxide (lye) to produce glycerol and a fatty acid salt called "soap." The triglycerides are most often animal fats or vegetable oils. When sodium hydroxide is used, a hard soap is produced.
c)Dehydration is the process in whcih if a person does not drink water for a long time can die due to the lack of hydrogen being present in their body.
