Maglev works on the principle that like poles of magnets repel each other and unlike poles attract each other. There are two sets of magnets. Due to repulsion between one set of magnets, the train lifts off from the tracks. This is known as magnetic levitation. The train floats over the tracks. Hence, the name of the train is also maglev train. Another set of magnets pushes the train forward.
