The height of 10 students of a class (in cm) are:
140, 136, 165, 149, 145, 139, 160, 158, 170, 135
We have to find, the mean height of 10 students of a class (in cm).
Solution:
We know that:
Mean = [tex]\dfrac{The sum of all observations}{Number of observations}[/tex]
= [tex]\dfrac{140 +136+165+149+145+ 139+160+158+ 170+ 135}{10}[/tex]
= [tex]\dfrac{1497}{10}[/tex]cm
= 149.7 cm
∴ The mean height of 10 students of a class = 149.7 cm
Thus, the mean height of 10 students of a class (in cm) is "149.7".
Given : height of 10 students of a class (in cm) :
140, 136, 165, 149, 145, 139, 160, 158, 170, 135.
To Find : Mean Height
Solution:
140, 136, 165, 149, 145, 139, 160, 158, 170, 135.
Total Height = 140 + 136 + 165 + 149 + 145 + 139 + 160 + 158 + 170 + 135.
= 1,497
Total Students = 10
Mean Height = 1497/10
= 149.7
if u do not want to add such big numbers arrange numbers in order
and assume a number mean which is in middle let say 145 is assumed ( u can assume any number )
135 135 - 145 = - 10
136 136 - 145 = - 9
139 139 - 145 = - 6
140 140 - 145 = - 5
145 145 - 145 = 0
149 149 - 145 = 4
158 158 - 145 = 13
160 160 - 145 = 15
165 165 - 145 = 20
170 170 - 145 = 25
Total = 47
Mean = 145 + 47/10
= 145 + 4.7
= 149.7
Mean Height = 149.7 cm
