Five main features of ganga river system is:
1. it represents dendritic drainage pattern .
2. it is joined by a no. of tributaries .
3. it makes one of the most fertile plains of the world .
4. every year the flood that occurs ,form flood plains which are very fertile and suitable for agriculture .
5. it meets with Brahmaputra and makes the largest delta of the world known as the Sundarban Delta which extend into Bangladesh.

Its tributaries flood parts of the northern plains every year, causing widespread damage to life and property but enriching the soil for the extensive agricultural lands. Enlarged with the waters from its right and left bank tributaries, the Ganga flows eastward till Farakka in West Bengal.
