Most of the Southern rivers flow towards the east as they originate from the plateau regions and follow the natural cycle of flow of water i.e. from high altitude to low altitude whereas Northern River flows towards the east as most of the Northern Rivers originate from the Himalayan range.
The Deccan plateau has sharp cliffs on the west. These are the Western ghats. Then it is more or less rolling towards the east. Hence any river flowing eastwards will be longer. There are certainly rivers flowing towards East. But because they also originated in the Western ghats they are very short. Not very noticeable. Hence with the exception of Narmada all rivers in the south flow to the east.
