Explanation: Members of the genus Streptomyces are aerobic, Gram-positive bacteria characterized by high genome G+C contents and a complex lifestyle. They are well known as a rich source of multifarious secondary metabolites and are responsible for about one-third of the currently known microbial bioactive compounds, notably antibiotics . Streptomycetes are widely distributed in nature, inhabiting a variety of habitats, including deserts, ice in the South Pole, insects, plants, and sea, as well as their primary habitat, soil . They also play a significant role in biodegradation and bioremediation by decomposing insoluble polymers, such as lignin, and synthetic insecticides . Given these notable features, streptomycetes have been a focus in microbial research and development for decades.
