you can put k=1 and then check the answer.
as if the equation is correct it must satisfy all the value that can occupy k.
but you have to put it on both sides
i.e 1,2,3,4,a,b,,,etc.
i.e. LHS- 4.2 +2 = 10
RHS- 1.8 + 2 = 10
there is another method,
(2^k+1 × 2k) + 2
=k . 2^(k + 1 + 1) + 2
(when equal bases are multiplied their powers are added)
