Let we consider your age is 13
And grandpa's age is 72
the difference of the ages = 72 - 13 = 59
x-y = 59
means x = 59 + y (equation)
Now the age difference of your grandpa and you is always same
( let us take example )
the difference b/w the age of my grandfather and me is 59 and my age is 13
x = age of grandfather
y = age of mine
x = 59 +13 = 72
b1) Your age is 13
father's age is 52
Grandpa's age is 72
Difference b/w grandpa's age and father's age is 72-52 = 20 = t
y = t - 3
y+3 = t
y = age of son
t= difference b/w the age of father and grandfather
b2) by second method :
father's age = 52 = z
my age = 13 = y
age difference = 52 -13 =
39
y + z = 39
y = 39 - z ( liner equation )
And your grandfather's age is 72
So , relation between you and your grandfather is
x=72/13
Hence if your age is x then your grandfathers ages will be 72/13x
y=(72/13)x
Now relation between you and your father will be ,
x= 52/13
So,
If your age is x then your father's age will be
4x
Hence,
y= 4x will be the relation between yours and your father's age
Note:
This relation in linear equation is valid only for the present ages
If you want to find the relation between ages after 2 years or 3 years then the relation will not be valid
