The bromobenzene is electrolysed in water, in which benzene combine with hydroxide ion of water & lose bromine. By this we can convert the bromobenzene to phenol (C6H5OH).
Bromobenzene To Phenol
1.Treat it with KNH2 in the presence of NH3 and -33 degree celsius; aniline is obtained
2.Then Aniline must be treated with NaNO2,HCl to give diazonium chloride
3.Treat diazonium chloride with Warm water,Phenol is obtained
C6H5Br + aqueous NaOH + Heat --------> C6H5ONa (Sodium phenoxide) -------(H+)------->
Phenol.
C6H5Br +H2O=C6H6O+HBr
