1) Lattice energy of BeO is greater than its hydration energy so, it is insoluble in water while in case of BeSO4 , hydration energy is greater than lattice energy, so, it is readily soluble in water.
2)Reason (R ): Lattice enthalpy of exceeds its hydration enthalpy. Therefore BaO is soluble in water. ... On the other hand in BaSO4 the size of Ba ions and sulphate ions are very large and therefore the lattice enthalpy is much larger than the hydration enthalpy.
