if a light is an electromagnetic wave then it do not need any medium to propagate like sound, then why the speed affect due to refraction as it do not need any medium it can also flow through vaccum?
please ans briefly this ques.....

Answer:
The speed of light is a universal constant in a vacuum, like the vacuum of space. However, light can slow down slightly when it passes through an absorbing medium, like water (225,000 kilometers per second = 140,000 miles per second) or glass (200,000 kilometers per second = 124,000 miles per second).
Light slows down if the refractive index of a medium increases, because the speed of light in a medium is inversely proportional to the refractive index of the medium, i.e., n ∝ 1/v.
A denser medium provides more matter from which the light can scatter, so light will travel more slowly in a dense medium.
Also These are a Few things that affect the speed of light
In conclusion Absorption of light and Scattering of light are the reason (According to me)
Hopefully these could help you!!
