If it is a sphere, we can approximate it's capacity using the formula for finding the volume (capacity) of a sphere
V = 4/3 πR³
V = Volume
R = Radius
∴ V = 4/3 x 3.14 x (6378.1)³
= 1.86 x 10^12 Km³

Taking earth to be a metallic spheres, its capacity will
approximately be
(A) 6.4 × 10f (B) 700 PF
(C) 711μF (D) 700 pF
Solution: Answer: (C) 711μF
for a sphere, c = 4π∈0R
c = [1 / (9 × 109)] × 6400 × 103
as [1 / (4∈0)] = 9 ×109 & R = Radius of earth = 6400 km
∴ c = 7.11 × 10–4 F
c = 711 × 10–6 F
c = 711μF
