Zero of a polynomial:-)
Any value of the variable which is present in the polynomial is taken such that the polynomial become equals to zero after putting it at the place of that variable present in the polynomial is generally known as zero of that polynomial.
Now:-)
lt is given that -4 is the Zero of the polynomial
{x}^{2} - x(2k + 2)x
2
−x(2k+2)
It gives that after putting x equals to - 4 in this polynomial we will get the polynomial equals to zero which gives a value of k as:-
\begin{lgathered}{( - 4)}^{2} - ( - 4)(2k + 2) = 0 \\ \implies16 - ( - 8k - 8) = 0 \\ \implies16 + 8k + 8 = 0 \\ \implies8k = - 24 \\ \implies \: k = - 3 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \boxed{ \boxed{ANSWER}}\end{lgathered}
(−4)
2
−(−4)(2k+2)=0
⟹16−(−8k−8)=0
⟹16+8k+8=0
⟹8k=−24
⟹k=−3
