The urinary system ( also known as the excretory system) is an organ system involved in formation and drainage of urine out of the body.
It is mainly involved in elimination of Nitrogenous wastes like urea, hippuric acid, etc out of the body.
This system consists of the following organs :
1. Kidney
2. Ureters
3. Urinary bladder
4. Urethra.
1. Kidney helps in filtering blood. The majority of solutes in urine I reabsorbed, only some are selectively secreted.
2. The pair of ureters are involved in transportation of the urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.
3. The urinary bladder is a temporary storage place for urine.
4. After accumulation of adequate amount of urine, the detrusor muscle of bladder contracts leading to passing out of urine through the urethra.
