On my laptop I used to have Microsoft Word, Publisher, etc. However, I have now changed my system to Linux and have Libre Office instead. For homework I need to make a leaflet and in the past I would have used Microsoft Publisher. Is there a Libre Office program which I can use - I have Libre Office Writer, Base, Calculate, Draw and Impress but none of these seem to make leaflets, posters, etc as Microsoft Publisher does.

LibreOffice will probably never release and alternative for Microsoft Publisher, however you can always use the most common open source alternative Scribus.

Alternative To Microsoft Publisher
I just loaded libre office 4.1 onto my laptop and converted a ms publisher file to Presentation in Libre Office. It works great I can now do everything I did in MS Office with Libre Office. What you have to do is open the file in Presentation and then save it. Then you can open the file directly.
Microsoft place of business respectable is a set of software. It contains a colleciton of instruments. Microsoft publisher is an person software that does web page design. The templates in OpenOffice and LibreOffice may be useful to you. Try searching for “brochure” or “poster”, or anything else that you may think relevant. Here is the address for the OpenOffice templates page:
