As direct rays of sunlight fall on the equator, it is relatively always warm throughout the year.
Even the winters on the equator aren't cold. They are just relatively less warm.
But, on high altitudes on the equator ( mountains), cold temperature is found.
One example-
Mount Chimborazo( part of the Andes)
to get an idea-
Currently, the temperature there is -13 degree Celsius ( Feb 12 2019)
