Difference between a shadow and an image:
1. When an opaque object placed in the path of light, a dark patch formed, which is called a shadow. On the other hand, an image is formed when light is reflected from a mirror (plane or spherical) by refraction in lenses.
2. Shadows are black, whereas images are colourful.
3. Shadows of objects change in length with the position of the sun through the day, and it will be longest at dawn and dusk, and shortest at noon. But, an image in a plane mirror never change in size and always remains the same size as that of the object.
4. In mirror, an image can be seen without a screen, but you must have a screen to form a shadow.
