Given that,
A solution of [tex]HNO_{3}[/tex] is 5%.
Let the volume of solution is x.
We know that,
Density of solution :
Density of solution is equal to the mass of solution divided by volume of solution.
In mathematically form,
[tex]\rho=\dfrac{M}{V}[/tex]
Put the value into the formula
[tex]1.4=\dfrac{100}{x}[/tex]
[tex]x=\dfrac{100}{1.4}[/tex]
[tex]x=71.4\ ml[/tex]
We need to calculate the mass of HNO₃ present in 100 ml
Using formula for mass of HNO₃
For, 71.4 ml = 5g of HNO₃
[tex]100\ ml = \dfrac{100\times5}{71.4}[/tex]
[tex]100\ ml =7.00\ g[/tex]
Hence, Mass of HNO₃ present in 100 ml of solution is 7g.
Density of solution is equal to the mass of solution divided by volume of solution. Hence, Mass of HNO₃ present in 100 ml of solution is 7g.
