Answer: The different ART techniques are:
1. IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation)- Fertilisation outside the body in almost similar conditions as that in the body. This is followed by Embryo Transfer.
-Test tube baby programme- Ova from wife or female donor and sperm from husband or male donor are allowed to fuse in lab.
-ZIFT (zygote intra fallopian transfer)- Zygote or early embryo upto 8 blastomeres is transferred into the fallopian tube.
-IUT (intra uterine transfer)- Embryo with more than 8 blastomeres are transferred.
-In-vivo Fertilisation- fusion of gametes within the female.
2. GIFT (gamete intra fallopian transfer)- Transfer of ovum from a donor to fallopian tube or another female who cant produce ova. But that female can provide suitable conditions for fertilisation and development of foetus up to parturition.
3. ICSI (Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection)- The sperm is injected into the ovum directly to form an embryo in the lab and then the embryo transfer (ET) is carried out.
4. AI (artificial insemination)- semen from husband or healthy donor is collected and is introduced in vagina or into the uterus of the female (by IUT- intra uterine insemination ) artificially.
This method is used in cases where infertility is due to the inability of the male to inseminate the female or due to low sperm counts in the ejaculates.
Hope the answer helps:)
