Explanation:
During iodometric titration reactions, a solution of iodine and aqueous iodide is used. It has yellow- brown color. The addition of starch, acts as indicator to express end point of the reaction. Starch forms intense blue colored complex with iodine in the presence of iodide. This complex is visible only at lower concentrations of iodine , that is when the reaction is ready to complete. Starch is added when reaction is about to near completion.
