Given Selling price = 96, Profit = 20%.
We know that Cost price = (100/100 + Gain%) * SP
⇒ (100/120) * 96
⇒ (9600/120)
⇒ 80.
Let, the quantity of pure mustard oil be x and the quantity of other oil be y.
⇒ 100x + 50y = 80 ------ (1)
⇒ x + y = 1. -------- (2)
On solving (1) & (2) * 50, we get
⇒ 100x + 50y = 80
⇒ 50x + 50y = 50
-------------------------
50x = 30
x = 30/50
x = 3/5.
Substitute x = 3/5 in (2), we get
⇒ x + y = 1
⇒ (3/5) + y = 1
⇒ y = 1 - 3/5
⇒ y = 2/5.
Now,
⇒ x/y
⇒ (3/5) * (5/2)
⇒ 3/2.
Ratio of x to y is 3:2.
Therefore, the ratio in which he mixed the two oil is 3:2.
Hope this helps!
