Here you can use three concepts to arrive at the answer I am using third one because its easy
1. Assume that these points are the vertices of a triangle whose area is 0.
2. Let these points be A, B and C then length of AB + BC = AC
3. Since these points are collinear then the slope of line joinig the points AB must be equal to slope of line joining points BC
