Let the breadth of the given rectangle be x cm then its length will be 3x cm.
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 (length+breadth)
40=2(x+3x)
40=8x
∴x=5
∴ length of rectangle =(5×3) cm
=15 cm
breadth of rectangle =(5×1) cm
=5 cm
∴The length and width of the rectangle is 15
