With the explosion of digital tools and efficiency, online learning has increased as well. Students are able to access many different courses online and learn in a much quicker and more convenient manner. Students in online courses have the flexibility to learn at their own pace, in their own environment, and without the hassle of traveling to a physical classroom.
While the online classroom has many benefits for students, it also has some challenges as well. One major challenge for the teacher is effectively monitoring student progress. This means that the teacher must assess student understanding of concepts, make sure students turn in assignments regularly and log into the classroom often, and check in with students to get their perspectives on the class. Online teachers must operate in a much different way to ensure that their students are making progress and to identify and help those students who may be falling behind.
