Answer:
To obtain a combined resistance of 9 ohms, three resistors each of resistance 6 ohm should be connected in a parallel circuit and one in series. In a parallel circuit, the equivalent resistance of all the resistors connected is equal to the reciprocal value of the sum of the individual resistances.

Given :
3 resistance are , each of resistance is of 6Ω.
________________________________
To Find :
(i) Connect them so overall resistance is 9Ω
(ii) We need overall resistance as 4Ω
_______________________________
Solution :
See attachment for figure
------------------------------
(i)
For First we have to connect two resistance in parallel and one in series.
⇒ Net Resistance = Put Two in parallel + 1 resistance in series
__________________________
Resistance in parallel
⇒(1/6 + 1/6)
⇒(2/6)
⇒(1/3)
⇒3 Ω
__________________________
Now add the resistance of series to get net resistance,
⇒Net resistance = 3 + 6
⇒Net resistance = 9 Ω
(ii)
⇒Net resistance = two in series and one in parallel.
___________________________________
Series resistance = 6 + 6
⇒Series resistance = 12 Ω
_____________________
1/Net resistance = 1/12 + 1/6
⇒1/Net resistance = 1 + 2/12
⇒1/Net resistance = 3/12
⇒1/Net resistance = 1/4
⇒Net resistance = 4 Ω
