The word 'social' has two usage, one in realtion to society, and the other in relation to forming relation with people.
Regarding the former meaning, I am confused with the word 'societal,' and regarding the latter meaning, I am not clear enough to tell 'social' from 'sociable.'
Could you help me distinguish them?
As an example, in the following sentence, are both 'social' and 'sociable' acceptable with identical meaning?
'The Johnsons are very social/sociable people. They love giving parties.'
