According to NCERT,
Plants take <50 % of sunlight
It uses 2-10 % of it for photosynthesis (GPP)
ie 1-5 % of total radiation (PAR)
For respiration, it uses 20 %
ie 0.2 - 1 % of GPP
Amount left is NPP
ie 0.8 -4 % of GPP
or 1.6 - 8% of PAR

Gross primary productivity- rate of energy loss to metabolism and maintenance
