Groundwater replenishment is where treated wastewater is further treated to drinking water standards and recharged into groundwater supplies.
➼ Heavy rains or melting snow may cause the water table to rise.
➼ Rainwater falls on earth's surface, and flows into the rivers and lakes and some of them are absorbed by the earth.
➼ This helps move excess salts that accumulate in the root zone to deeper soil layers.
➼ The water can then be stored in our underground aquifers which helps to filter water naturally.
This is a non-stop cycle which helps to maintain the water balance on earth.
