Every situation has two faces. And the same is with this statement. It can be agreed if we look at it with a different point of view and it can also be disagreed if we look at it with a different point of view.
If I look at this statement with a religious perspective, then I don't agree with it. Because this statement was said by Satan when God punished him to not to stay in heaven. It was his ego which made him say this statement. He said that it's better to rule in hell than to stay and serve in heaven. He didn't obey to God and he didn't accept his punishment, instead he became more egoistic and challenged God by saying that he won't stay in heaven, he'll oppose God and rule in hell.
At the same time, if we look at the statement with a normal point of view, we should agree with this statement. Because this statement shows that if we face any kind of such situations in life where we are forced to be like a servant in good environment, it's better for us to live in the bad condition but freely. We humans are not anybody's servant. We are here just to serve God. That doesn't mean that we should be selfish, but we are free to do whatever we want and we cannot be anybody's servant. We have the right to do whatever we want.
So, to conclude, according to me, this statement sends us two messages:
1) We should not be egoistic.
2) We should not be quite if we're pressurised by anyone.
