(i) Let the first number be a
(ii) The second number is twice the first.
Second number = 2a
and
(iii) The third number is 6 more than the second.
So the third number is = 2a+6
The sum of three numbers is 26.
∴a+2a+(2a+6)=26
⇒a+2a+2a+6=26
⇒5a+6=26
⇒5a=26−6=20
⇒a=20/5=4
∴a=4
So the three numbers are :
(i) a=4
(ii) 2a=2×4=8
and
(iii) 2a+6=8+6=14
The three numbers are 4,8and14 .
