Nissl granules are actually rough endoplasmic reticulum and they are called rough due to the presence of ribosomes in its walls. The main function of these ribosomes is protien synthesis and therefore nissl granules help in protien synthesis and provides protiens to the cyton.
However as axon doesn’t have nissl granules, therefore they get protien supply from the cyton itself
