A hydrogen bond is a primarily electrostatic force of attraction between a hydrogen atom which is covalently bound to a more electronegative atom or group, and another electronegative atom bearing a lone pair of electrons—the hydrogen bond acceptor.
[basically, it means a chemical bond in which a hydrogen atom of one molecule is attracted to an electronegative atom (e.g. water).]
There are two requirements for hydrogen bonding. First, molecules have hydrogen attached to a highly electronegative atom. Second, the molecule has a lone pair of electrons on a small highly electronegative atom.
