Swidden agriculture, also recognized as the shifting cultivation, mentions to a method of rotating farming under which land is cleaned for cultivation (by fire) and then left to renew after a few years.
This type of “slash and burn” was denoted as “swidden agriculture”.
However, there was a common myth that due to this method of cultivation deforestation takes place, which is really not true.
