When acidified potassium dichromate react with potassium iodide the given below reaction take place:
K₂Cr₂O₇ + 7H₂S0₄ + 6KI → Cr₂(S0₄) + 3I₂ + 7H₂0 + 4K₂S0₄
Chromium get reduced from +6 Oxidation state to +3 oxidation sate. So oxidation state of Cr in Cr₂(SO₄) is +3.
